BCCI stopped the IPL 2021 tournament after the COVID-19 cases increased. Around 4 players and 2 coaches tested positive for the virus. A player revealed that the bio bubble was not as safe as it was last year in UAE.
He further said that although BCCI tried to make it as secure and tight as it was in UAE, the situation worsened. There was no restriction on the players going to different floors. Some of them even went to the pool. The practice facilities were located at a far-off place.
The unnamed player further said that there were contradictory views amongst the players on whether or not the tournament should continue. Some players thought that the IPL should continue as it was a distraction for the viewers amidst the global pandemic. While others believed that it was not wise to continue the tournament in the prevailing condition.
Most of the players were frightened that the virus might catch them.
Sreevats Goswami from Sunrisers Hyderabad stated that the bio-bubble was safe
Meanwhile, Sreevats Goswami from Sunrisers Hydrabad revealed that there was strictness in the bubble.
He further said no one tried to breach the bubble. However, everyone panicked once the virus spread among certain players.
Most of the players were scared as the virus could have been transferred to their families. He further said that the foreign players, in particular, were very scared after reading news on social media.
There was regular news of people dying due to the lack of oxygen and other medical supplements. Due to this, the foreign players were scared.
Sreevats said that the Indian players tried to comfort them as much as was possible.
