Shane Watson announced recently that he is taking retirement from all types of games. He confirmed this after the match with Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi.
He was very emotional while breaking the news to his teammates of Chennai Super Kings. The veteran all-rounder has been one of the best players of Chennai Super Kings.
However, he was unable to give his best performance in this season of dream 11 IPL 2020. He further said that playing for the Chennai based franchise was a big privilege for him.
According to an official of CSK, Watson might continue as a staff member of CSK.
Performance of Shane Watson so far
Watson has always been a top scorer of his team. He holds a record of scoring a total of 555 runs and has an average rate of 39.64.
Watson played an important role in CSK’s third victory in the IPL.
He had earlier taken retirement from international cricket in the year 2016. However, he was playing for the domestic tournaments actively.
He became a part of Chennai Super Kings in the year 2018.
This year Chennai Super Kings was not very lucky in the matches. They started the tournament well by defeating Mumbai Indians.
However, their squad soon fell weak. They lost back to back matches and fell to the bottom of the points table.
Due to this, they will not be able to play for the playoffs this season. It is a sad moment for all the fans of Chennai Super Kings.
They have never seen CSK at this position. However, this has not deterred their captain, MS Dhoni. His confidence is still high. Upon being asked recently if this is his last match, he said “definitely not”.
