Hashim Amla: Career Highlights
Amla currently holds the record for being the fastest ever to score 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 ODI runs. He also became the fastest cricketer to reach 10 ODI centuries. In addition to all this, Hashim Amla became the first South African to score a triple-century in Test cricket. His supple wrists are a delight to watch, especially when he stands up tall to play those forcing shots off the back-foot.
One of the finest stroke players in the game, Amla’s family shifted to South Africa from Gujarat. Earmarked as a special talent right from his young age, he led the South African side at the 2002 Under-19 World Cup and made his Test debut against India in 2004-05. Although, his mental health came under scrutiny after the latter found it difficult to get runs under his belt.
Hashim Amla also captained the national Test side for two years. Amla is known for his supple wrist work and his ability to score runs at will. Despite not having the reputation for power-hitting, Amla has been a valuable asset in white-ball cricket.
Hashim Amla was picked by the Kings XI Punjab for the 2016 season of the IPL. Amla went on to become an integral part of the team and even scored two centuries in the IPL during 2016 and 2017. Despite his good performance, he was not picked by any franchise in the auction for IPL 2018.
